More Lake Chapala
Old Church near the lake walk. This church was built to honor the Virgin
Mary & is a way-station on the pilgrimage journey a figure of Mary
in corn meal makes every year throughout the region. The image is supposed
to have miraculous properties, mostly related to rain & corn growing.

Empty streets -- no tourists
Empty swimming pool on
the sea walk. Grafitti all over.
This used to be covered
in water. Part of the problem is because people cut down the vegetation
surrounding the lake & rains silted up the shores.
